Skills to Thrive

Our Skills to Thrive Programme encourages students to develop a range of skills ready for their next steps after A levels. Students set skills targets for the academic year with tutors during their 1-1 sessions. As the year goes on, students log examples of these skills which they can refer to in applications for university, work, or apprenticeships.


  • Communication : Listening to others closely, and expressing yourself clearly
  • Creativity/Innovation : Using your imagination to come up with new ideas
  • Critical Thinking : Evaluating information in order to form your own opinion
  • Independence : Working effectively on your own
  • Initiative : Achieving something by taking action yourself
  • Leadership : Motivating and managing others to achieve a shared goal
  • Organising & Time Management : Managing yourself and others to achieve a specific goal
  • Problem Solving : Finding a solution to a situation or challenge
  • Reflectiveness : Giving thoughtful consideration to your own learning and experiences
  • Resilience & Staying Positive : Using strategies to deal with change and overcome setbacks
