Student leadership and Student societies
Social Action Project
In the summer term L6 students work with peers from their tutor group on a project that delivers maximum social impact, whilst raising a minimum of £200 for their chosen charity or cause. In 2025 L6 Woodhouse students raised over £23 000 for good causes.
The challenge connects young people with local, national, and international campaigns, causes and charities that they are passionate about and gives them an immersive insight into social action. The programme offers the opportunity to build teamwork, independence, leadership skills, and confidence. These skills are key to personal and professional development and are an important part of the UCAS personal statement. Students also learn the importance of preparation and organisation through hands-on project management activities. They hone their presentation skills and gain entrepreneurial insights and employability skills that will enhance their CVs and make them stand out in future applications.
Student Societies
Student led societies give students the opportunity to develop their leadership skills, pursue an interest or discover a new one and connect with students from across the college. The list of societies varies from year to year according to student interest but includes cultural or religious societies such as Islamic Society, Jewish Society, Christian Union, African and Caribbean Society, South Asian Society, Hong Kong Society, Eastern European and Balkan Society through to musical theatre and Book Club and societies which cover economics, fashion, film, engineering, and philosophy. If there isn’t a society that meets students’ interests, we encourage them to start a new one!
“I like the independence Woodhouse gives you. Here you are treated as an adult”.
Sports
Our coaches run lunchtime and after college sessions connecting students with a range of sports and fitness activities such as badminton, basketball, football, netball, volleyball, dodge ball and table tennis.
With a state-of-the-art floodlit 3G football pitch, our teams can be proud of their home turf and our football and netball teams compete in north London leagues. The two purpose-built studios are used by students for activities ranging from dance to yoga.
