Remote Learning

During this period of lockdown, lessons are taking place, according to the normal timetable, live on the Microsoft Teams app.
The timetable was rearranged in September into long lessons (to reduce trapped time in college); these long lessons do not lend themselves well into online sessions, so teachers have been encouraged to schedule breaks in the middle and/or to be flexible about end times.
Students’ attendance is being recorded as usual, and progress is assessed through contributions in lessons, homework and tests. Where we have concerns about engagement, our pastoral teams are targeting support and interventions.
Some students are able to use the library for study, if they are deemed vulnerable and/or do not have access to good study facilities at home.
The College has lent out over 60 of its laptops to students but has not yet received any laptops from the government’s scheme. The College has also sent out sim cards with unlimited data to some students.
