Biolympians medal in biology at Woodhouse...

Dated: 9 May 2018

Woodhouse College has been participating in the British Biology Olympiad, organised by the Royal Society for Biology, for many years. It is open to students around the world and this year it took place between 23rd - 31st January 2018.

We had a record 50 students (both lower and upper sixth) participating from Woodhouse this year, and the aim of the competition is to challenge and stimulate students with an interest in biology and to expand and extend their talents.

The competition enabled students to demonstrate their knowledge and to be suitably rewarded with publicly recognised certificates and medals. Top scoring gold medalists nationally go onto to take part in a global challenge in Tehran, Iran later this year.

Two of our students - Aribah Naveed and Lela Cordess - earned well-deserved silver medals, while another 10 received bronze awards. Numerous others received 'highly commended' certificates.

Biology teacher (and local BBO organiser) Mrs Doyle said "Our department is very proud of our student’s achievements; the tests were very challenging and demanding and our students did brilliantly. We would like to extend a warm congratulations to them all."
