Career Ready students meet their mentors

Dated: 10 February 2016

Our latest group of Career Ready students took their next step into the world of business by meeting their mentors recently. Sulehka Musa gave us an insight into the process...

"On Thursday 28th January, the AS Career Ready team met up with our mentors for the first time at the Business Design centre in Angel, Islington.

Most of us were nervous about meeting our mentors, despite being prepared by the various workshops and master classes prior to this.

My nerves were were mainly due to the fear of not being able to relate to adults who are already well established in the working world. However, I was quickly proven wrong, as my mentor turned out to be the easiest person to talk to.

Everyone got the opportunity to kick start their mentoring relationships by finding out about their mentors journey, current working field and any common interests we shared.

Mentoring is a key part of the Career Ready programme; it includes working on your personal skills as well as additional benefits, such as receiving help with your personal statement and UCAS further down the line.

All in all, the first meet-up went exceptionally well and we’re now looking forward to regularly keeping in contact and meeting up with our mentors every 4-6 weeks."
