Oxbridge Success Results 2018 Art and Design at Woodhouse Physics at Woodhouse

EW17 - Enrichment Week

Dated: 7 August 2017

This year's enrichment week took place at the end of term and encompassed over thirty different event options for students. Activities took place at the college, in the local area, and in far flung destinations such as the Lake District and even Berlin. All first year students take part.

Enrichment week and our enrichment programme (where students sign up for ten-week short courses) are long established at Woodhouse, and an important part of the educational experience we provide. Alongside excellent subject tuition and support, students also get access to other skills, activities and opportunities to try out new things, round out their characters and develop life skills... to grow.

During the next academic year, our enrichment programme will form a core element of a much larger extracurricular programme we are calling WoodhousePlus.

Some of the more physical enrichment activities on offer this year were off campus...

Archery was just one of dozens of enrichment options on offer this year

A dozen or so Hunger Games fans (or Robin Hood, or Lord of the Rings...) travelled to the Aquarius Archery Club near East Finchley to practice their archery skills.

Their Woodhouse supervisor - physics teacher Danni Youziel told us.. "They were a mixture of first timers and experienced archers, but all got to grips with their bow and arrows very soon. Some even doubled their target distance by the end of the session.

The afternoon ended with a competition and everyone left smiling. A few even asked about training courses. Thanks Aquarius for a great day!"

Another group got the opportunity to try out canoeing and sailing in the Brent Reservoir thanks to the instructors at the Phoenix Canoe Club

"...there is nothing - absolutely nothing - half so much worth doing as simply messing about in boats"

Slightly further afield, one lucky group travelled to the Olympic Park velodrome and BMX track...

You can see lots more pictures from our enrichment week in our Flickr album here...

And we'll be adding to the album as new photos are sent in.
