Higher Education Exploration afternoon a big success

Dated: 11 February 2016

This week saw the return of our now regular HE exploration talks afternoon with over 40 visiting speakers from universities across the UK filling our classrooms.
Organised by our specialist Careers Coordinator - the afternoon programme of talks for lower-sixth students covered all subjects and gave them useful insight into the choices they will be making next year. All students had the opportunity to hear three different speakers.
History students Hannah Foster and Felix Burling attended a talk by a visiting lecturer from Oxford Brookes university.
Hannah said "The history talk was really good and informative, especially as I want to study for a history degree".
Felix agreed "It was really interesting because it wasn't just about what the history course itself was like, but also about how to actually get into university."
Student Rory Edwards summed up the afternoon "It's very useful that the college organises events like this so that we can evaluate our future options and get a taste of what uni might be like."
Careers coordinator Joanna Greatwich said "The afternoon was a big success, the speakers were great and the students got a real introduction to looking at degree subjects."
Thanks to all the speakers who came to talk, from universities the length and breadth of the country, including: Brunel, Lincoln, Aberdeen, Middlesex, Queen Mary's, Nottingham, UCL, Herts, Cardiff, Leicester, King's, Westminster, City, Surrey, Essex, Imperial, Warwick, Bradford and Bedfordshire.
