Psychology Teacher

£36,667 – £52,977 FTE, per annum
 
The College invites applications from well-qualified and enthusiastic A level Psychology teachers. This is an exciting opportunity to work for a friendly and very successful department.
 
We will consider applications for a full-time, permanent position or two part time posts – one of which would be appointed on a temporary basis for a year. You are welcome to apply for a full-time or part-time position and we request that you make your preference explicit in your personal statement. ECTs are welcome to apply.
 
Salaries will be on the sixth form college teachers main scale between Point 2 and Point 9, currently £33,415 and £49,725, plus London Weighting £3,252 pro-rata per annum, pending pay award. The salary on a part-time basis of 0.5 FTE would be between £18,334 and £26,489 inclusive per annum, depending on experience.

Essential Requirements
 
• Honours degree in Psychology or related discipline.
• PGCE or equivalent post-16 teaching qualification.
• Recent successful experience of teaching A level Psychology.
• Excellent classroom skills and the ability to employ a range of teaching strategies and resources which engage and support students in the promotion of high-quality learning.
• Enthusiasm for Psychology and the ability to convey that enthusiasm in A level teaching.
• Contribute positively to the work of the department through collaborative planning, and by sharing teaching ideas and resources.
• Excellent communication and team working skills.
• Evaluative approach to own teaching and willingness to try new activities.
• Successful use of intervention strategies to improve levels of progress.
• Skilled in using assessment data and prior learning to inform planning.
• Good behaviour management skills.
• Good ICT skills and an interest in using ICT as a tool in teaching and learning.
• The interpersonal skills and enthusiasm for undertaking the duties of a personal tutor to post-16 age group.
• Understanding of and commitment to equality, diversity and inclusion in practice.
• Commitment to safeguarding the interests and needs of young people.
 
Desirable
• A working knowledge of Microsoft Teams to set work and communicate with students and other staff.
• Ability to teach another subject.
• An interest in developing the resource base of the department and the application of new technologies in teaching.
