Temporary Chemistry Teacher

Starting September 2019
 
The College invites applications from well-qualified and enthusiastic A level Chemistry teachers. This is a full time, temporary position to cover a sickness absence, anticipated to run for one term in the first instance. This is a great opportunity to work within a friendly and successful department.
 
Salaries will be on the sixth form college teachers’ salary scale between £25,695 and £39,329 depending on experience, plus £2,571 London Weighting, per annum.

Requirements
 
1. Honours degree in Chemistry or similar.
2. PGCE or equivalent post-16 teaching qualification.
3. Enthusiasm for Chemistry and the ability to convey that enthusiasm in A level teaching.
4. Contribute positively to the work of the department by sharing teaching ideas and resources.
5. Excellent classroom skills that demonstrate effective differentiation and assessment for learning and give rise to high quality learning.
6. Successful use of intervention strategies to improve levels of progress.
7. Skilled in using assessment data and prior learning to inform planning
8. Good behaviour management skills.
9. Confident practical chemist with an awareness of health and safety considerations
10. Excellent communication and interpersonal skills / team working.
11. The interpersonal skills and enthusiasm to undertake the duties of a personal tutor to post-16 age group.
12. Understanding of and commitment to equality and diversity in practice.
13. Commitment to safeguarding the interests and needs of young people.
