Woodhouse girl boxer hooks Sport England prize

Dated: 30 April 2018

Woodhouse student Nika Hariti has won a £50 JD Sport voucher awarded by Sport England who recognise those who commit to leading physically active lives...

Nika, and her fellow boxers, have been attending Girls Boxing sessions at Woodhouse College since the beginning of the year as part of our Woodhouse Plus extracurricular program.

Boxing is just one of the dozens of different sports sessions arranged and run by our dedicated Physical Activities Manager and 'Jump Start' programme coordinator, in order to encourage our students to develop their physical as well as mental fitness.

Nika told us "I find boxing an interesting sport and very challenging. But mostly I do boxing to learn self-defence...

Before I did girls boxing I played badminton at school and I do swimming at my local gym...

What I enjoy most about boxing is that with each session I can see improvement in my skills and self-defence techniques. I like to exercise, because it makes me fit and healthy."

Sport England would like to thank Nika for completing surveys so that they can understand more about the young people taking part in their funded sessions.
